David Hicock graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration. His first few jobs after college included 10 large caricatures that adorn a Connecticut theater and designing art brochures for the Everson Museum of Art. His career moved on with a brief stint in advertising with Conklin, Labs, and Beebe to a position as the staff artist for all the Onondaga County Public Libraries.
In 1983, together with three other partners, David became one of the founders of the animation business Animotion Inc. Still going today it has garnered awards and done work in almost every venue of animation from feature work to web animation. As a partner in Animotion Inc., David has completed various projects for national clients. His role in these projects ranged from director, animation director, character designer, and animator.

He has also done commercials. A highlight in this area would be the recently released Cannon Pool commercial "One Day Last Summer." The spot was written, directed, and primarily animated by David Hicock. The commercial is being syndicated and will be seen in other areas of the country.
Throughout his career David has never stopped drawing and painting. Several of his paintings can be seen in Onondaga County. The 2 most prominently displayed being the portrait of Robert P. Kinchen in the Main Library downtown, and the portrait of Robert Mack, founder of St. Camillus. David is also well known in the OFD Inc. sessions for his vivid pastel work.
